Which LG TVs work
- LG — webOS (LG)
Step by step
- Connect your phone to the same Wi-Fi network as the TV. (Not the guest network.)
- Turn the TV on and install RemotApp on your phone.
- Open RemotApp. It finds the TVs on your network by itself; tap your LG TV.
- The TV shows a connection request from RemotApp. Select “Accept”.
- Tap Volume + to test. That’s it: your phone is now the remote.
If it doesn’t connect
- Make sure “LG Connect Apps” is on (Settings › General › Devices on recent models; Settings › Network on older ones).
- If you declined by mistake, just try again from RemotApp: the TV will ask once more.
- LG TVs without webOS (older Netcast models) aren’t supported.
- Make sure the phone isn’t using a VPN and that the router doesn’t isolate devices (“AP isolation” / “client isolation”). On iPhone, check Settings › RemotApp › Local Network.
How to turn on a LG TV without the remote
Turn on “Mobile TV On” (or “Turn on via Wi-Fi”), usually under Settings › General › Devices. The TV then accepts a wake-up signal from your phone while in standby.
Menu names vary a little by model and software version.
